I find everything about Torai to be endearing. The owner is friendly and courteous, the service is fast, and the fish is fresh. They have not one, not two, but three varieties of ginger ale (!).
I got the umami shoyu poke, and I was pleased with the quality and portion size. This is beside the point, but I prefer to get poke at sushi restaurants (as opposed to chipotle-type build-your-own-poke restaurants) because the seasoned sushi rice really makes all the difference.
I'm looking forward to trying Torai's ramen and sushi in the future.
(side note: I would not sit at the sushi bar area. the countertops are weirdly high and it makes for a somewhat awkward dining experience.) -

I've ordered sushi rolls (Spicy Tuna, Rainbow, Fantasy, Crazy) for takeout twice in a week's time and both times I was VERY pleased.
Fish was fresh, rolls were well put together and service / disposition of staff all made me want to return and I'm sure I'll be ordering from and visiting them again.
Don't allow yourself to be put off by the small storefront. The food is super legit!! -

Small mom and pop store. Came in after a long museum day. We couldn't find any where opened around 3ish (all the good sushi joints open at 5pm) so we searched for opened sushi places and decided to come here after reading all the rave reviews.
We ordered the love sushi combo ($50) it comes with 2 house special rolls, sushi and California rolls. The meal could've been better if we can actually pick the rolls. Caterpillar rolls are basically California rolls with sashimi on top and the sushi that we got already had the fish that was on top of caterpillar roll. We weren't wowed by the quality of sushi either. Honestly l, if i am not living in the neighborhood, I wouldn't visit. Perhaps the reviews are from their neighbors and for people who order delivery. If you're from out of town, I suggest you go somewhere else since there is nothing noteworthy about this place. -

Delicious sushi, friendly service, and reasonable prices. Will definitely be back! It's a low key place with a small business feel.

I've been wanting to dine here after picking up so many orders for door dash! Lol I decided to try it. When you walk in, it's small and intimate. The customer service was inviting. The cashier went over the items on the menu with me due to spicy foods. I DO NOT EAT SPICY FOODS so I can be choosy I ordered the salmon roll which was tasty by the way including the crab salad. This is not a place for a large crowd but definitely a lunch or dinner for two with a glass of red wine. I liked it!
